In November 2024, our institution actively co-organized the 2nd International Conference on Optimization and Data Science in Industrial Engineering (ODSIE 2024), in collaboration with Istinye University, Istanbul, Turkey. The event was conducted in virtual format and welcomed scholars, faculty members, industry professionals, and students from around the globe.
ODSIE 2024 was designed to promote academic and professional dialogue in the rapidly evolving fields of optimization, data science, and industrial engineering. With a diverse program featuring keynote lectures, paper presentations, PhD thesis competition, and specialized workshops, the conference created a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment for knowledge sharing and collaboration.
One of the distinct highlights of the event was its scientific support from nine universities across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Furthermore, selected contributions were considered for publication in well-regarded scientific journals and the Springer CCIS (Communications in Computer and Information Science) series, indexed in Scopus, EI-Compendex, DBLP, Google Scholar, and other major databases.
ODSIE 2024 brought together experts in fields such as:
Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems
Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0
Supply Chain Analytics and Logistics
Heuristics, Metaheuristics, and Optimization Algorithms
Data Science Applications in Engineering and Management
Project Planning, Scheduling, and Process Improvement
The success of ODSIE 2024 demonstrated our institution’s dedication to promoting scientific advancement, fostering international collaboration, and contributing to the future of optimization and data science within the industrial engineering landscape.
In 2024, our institution proudly co-organized the International Conference on Science, Engineering Management, and Information Technology (SEMIT 2024) in partnership with Yildirim Beyazit University, Ankara, Turkey.
This online conference, held on September 12–13, 2024, served as a global platform for researchers, academics, and industry experts to exchange scientific knowledge and applied experience in a wide range of interdisciplinary fields. The event featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, and hands-on workshops, with the aim of strengthening the connection between academia and industry.
SEMIT 2024 welcomed paper presentations in both English and Turkish. Selected contributions were submitted for publication in Springer’s Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS), indexed in Scopus, EI-Compendex, DBLP, and other major databases.
This achievement reflects our institution’s commitment to fostering international collaboration, promoting scientific innovation, and supporting the professional development of scholars and practitioners.
ODSIE 2023 – A Landmark in International Collaboration
In November 2023, we proudly launched the first edition of the International Conference on Optimization and Data Science in Industrial Engineering (ODSIE) in cooperation with Istinye University, Istanbul. This fully virtual event established a dynamic platform for dialogue between researchers, professionals, and academics in the fields of data-driven decision-making, optimization, and smart industrial systems.
The conference featured:
Participation from 50 countries
307 submissions from around the world, with 124 accepted papers
Keynote speeches and workshops by 12 international experts
21 technical panels, chaired by scholars from 17 countries
A Ph.D. Thesis Competition to highlight innovative research
Scientific sponsorship from 15 global institutions
Publication of selected papers by Springer (CCIS Series) and indexing in Scopus, SCImago, and other major databases
10 additional journals indexed in SCIE, Scopus, and EBSCO hosted selected articles
ODSIE 2023 successfully bridged research and industry, offering insights into emerging technologies such as Industry 4.0, AI and Machine Learning, Smart Manufacturing, Fintech, and Sustainable Supply Chains. The conference marked a strong step forward in promoting interdisciplinary excellence in industrial engineering.
The International Conference on Science, Engineering Management, and Information Technology (SEMIT) has been an annual event hosted by RefConf in collaboration with Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University, traditionally taking place every September. In 2023, SEMIT once again brought together an impressive lineup of keynote speakers and international participants, further establishing its reputation as a premier academic gathering.
SEMIT 2023 stood out with its SCOPUS-indexed status and publication of selected papers through the Springer CCIS book series. The proceedings of the event remain accessible through its official portal: https://semit2023.refconf.com/page_89.html.
That year, the event benefited greatly from the participation of LARODEC (Laboratoire de Recherche Opérationnelle, de Décision et de Contrôle de processus) of the Université de Tunis, whose panel contributed high-quality discussions under the conference’s Bronze promotional package. Known for its academic rigor and interdisciplinary research, LARODEC has long been a vital force in the fields of optimization, decision-making, process control, and applied computer science.
SEMIT 2023 featured 24 panels, workshops, and lectures by scholars from various countries. With over 400 submissions and 133 papers accepted for presentation, the conference reflected a noticeable growth compared to previous editions. The event also benefited from the contributions of over 15 supporting institutions and a diverse group of participants from across the globe, reaffirming SEMIT’s role as a catalyst for academic-industry collaboration in engineering management and IT.
This hands-on workshop introduces participants to the foundations and applications of Machine Learning, with a focus on real-world use cases and Python-based implementation. The program is designed around two key goals:
Gaining practical skills in applying core machine learning algorithms using Python
Understanding how to choose the right algorithm for a given problem scenario
The session begins with an overview of key ML models—covering regression (simple, multiple, logistic), classification (decision tree, random forest, naïve Bayes), and clustering (K-means, K-NN, SVM).
Participants will then explore popular ML applications such as spam detection, recommendation systems, and predictive analytics. The workshop also includes a set of interview-style questions to familiarize attendees with the skills sought in today’s AI job market.
The SEMIT 2022 conference offered a multidisciplinary platform for exploring current trends in engineering management and IT. Scholars and professionals submitted both research papers and practical case studies in diverse fields such as digital governance, AI applications, data-driven decision-making, and Industry 4.0.
Key areas included smart systems in manufacturing and services, intelligent supply chain models, project and process management, and the role of big data and soft computing in improving operational efficiency.
Accepted abstracts were published in the proceedings, and selected full papers were reviewed for indexing by Springer. The event emphasized bridging academic insight with industrial needs across various sectors.
The September 2022 edition of the International Conference on Science, Engineering Management, and Information Technology (SEMIT) was successfully held in partnership with Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University. With participation from scholars representing over 40 countries, the event featured dynamic keynote lectures, expert-led panels, and hands-on workshops.
A selection of accepted papers was published in the Springer CCIS series, with conference abstracts compiled and made available online.
